Sorry -- I skipped last week. I had a surreal 7 days of craziness.
1. Our guinea pig died. Doesn't sound like much, but we had George for 5 years and he was beloved.
2. Rob got laid off. This was not unexpected but somehow we were still surprised. They chose to lay him off on the last day of the month, so guess what... no medical benefits effective immediately. Bastards. (He doesn't feel that way... I'm less forgiving.)
3. Rob got a new job. Yep. Just like that. We seriously expected to spend up to a year finding another job. We both feel truly blessed that a new job found him/us so quickly.
That's it. I think it's a pretty good excuse to skip a blog post. I'm organized again now. I switched out our BOB boxes to make room for Mother's Day ideas. I love this time of year. Spring just seems to bring out the crafting best in all of us.
Enjoy.

Glad things worked out so well for your family last week! God works in mysterious ways. I hope this turns out to be a better opportunity for your family. We had a week similar...I had already gotten laid off in January...unexpectedly...and I'm still looking for work. I carried the benefits so we had to choose COBRA. My husband was released last Monday...no warning...unexpected. So it was an extremely stressful week. We're trying to look on the bright side and see this as a time for him to regroup. I hope he is as lucky as your husband in finding a new job.
Hugs,
Charmaine

It is always nice to come over here and read your posts, and to be supportive to you when you need all of us to be if bad times hit you. This new week is bound to be better for you. Take care.

Charmaine! Sorry to hear about your situation too! Hopefully you'll land on your feet! My brother was out of work for a year and wrote this great article (now online at www.97jobsearchtips.com) on the best ways to present your resume and get found by recruiters. I think it was those recommended resume changes that made the diference for my husband.

So sad about the guinea pig but glad that all worked well with your husband and finding a job so quickly. Thanks for taking the time to post all these wonderful and inspirational sites. There is always more than enough to keep me busy for a week. ;-)

I just stumbled across your blog. I'm glad that your husband was able to find another job again so quickly! My husband and I have our own insurance so that we don't need to rely on an employer. It's expensive but the trend with most employers in my area is to have the employee pay for part of their healthcare and it ends up being about the same if we just stayed with our own personal insurance.

My husband lost his job a few years ago and it took 8 months for him to find another one, so I am very glad that your husband found something so quickly! Sorry about your guinea pig. I cried like an idiot when my first fish died and I had not had it very long and I was like 27 years old!
