Thank you to all my readers who emailed me or commented in worry over my longer than planned absence. We had end of the year, baseball tournament, vacation and other chaos all at once. I did what I never do -- closed the computer and enjoyed. I highly recommend it.
Here's the problem:
I came home to more blog posts than I could read, so I "marked them all as read" and started fresh. The next day, I was already back up to 700 new blog posts -- and MOST of them include fantastic projects. I can't keep up. Well, I can't keep up AND have a life. I've discovered I like having a life. I'm even sometimes pretty fun.
I'm working on a solution. It will probably be a complete dump of the way I currently tag blogs and go back to a short list (less than 10) of my favorite projects each week. I'd love solutions if you have them.
Feel free to comment here :)
not that I want to take on anything remotely like you do but you could always to do some guest authors during the summer showcasing their favorites. Maybe give them some categories to choose from each week.
Hope you are enjoying the time off, it is nice to shut down that computer and enjoy life every now and then!!

I think you need to delegate. You could have a blog team (kinda like a design team) that is responsible for reading X number of the blogs on your list and then compiling the best of from their respective lists. Then they pass those onto you and you decide what makes the cut.
Not sure what they get as benefits but delegate, delegate, delegate! It's something I'm trying to learn to be comfortable with!

Glad to see you enjoyed time with your family! I was one of the ones who emailed and checked on you. When You replied that you were doing things with your family I felt so much better. I like "i (heart) papers" suggestion. Either that or just drop the whole thing! This is not the first time you have been inclined to change it up. Your family time is pulling you for a reason. Your blog makes it easy for me to find the best of the best but as much as I love your blog, I also know there are people more important in your life then your readers.
Follow your heart!
Hugs,

I also noticed it had been awhile since you posted...glad you are taking the family time.
A friend and I just started a shout out blog and love the idea, it has been slow to find new beginners but fun to discover them.
Not sure I have any suggestions that would help, I do know we all enjoy seeing your posts and also being fortunate enough to have caught your eye for a posting.
Thanks for all you do sweetie!

If you find a way to manage all the blog updates, please let us know. I have the same problem and am overwhelmed with them all. I love them but just don't have time to check them all out, then they clog up the email!

What about a Mclinky for people to post their creations and Random Number Generator for featured cards?

I had the same idea as i (heart)papers! You do need a team if you want to carry on and keep your sanity Susanna.

That team idea is brilliant! They could maybe even rotate categories every so often! I agree, having a life is just too wonderful ;). I tried and quickly became addicted, lol! I truely LOVE your contribution and am sure that there is a solution out there for you! Have a fabulous weekend.

So glad to hear everything's alright. :) life can sure get busy sometimes can't it? It think shortening the lists again would be a good idea and easier to follow IMO. :) Have a great wknd!!

Thank you for all you have done and do, Susanna. I agree that your family time should be a priority as the children grow up so fast! This is precious time and should be protected at all costs!
I also thought of the team approach. My approach would be to have a large team - maybe 14 and rotate days. With 14, one person could be totally responsible for reading all the blogs and posting the best one day every two weeks. If something comes up for a team member, they could trade days with someone else (or horror of horrors - SKIP A DAY). I think one day every two weeks would not be burdensome for anyone and would share the load with you.

I really like that idea A LOT. I think we're definitely going in that direction.

I agree with the others, Susanna - it's crazy to keep this up by yourself. You need a team! :) Why not post over at scrapbookcalls and see what happens?
