Scrappy Sunday

A weekend of various tech troubles and my son's 10th birthday, but Scrappy Sunday is now up!!! I'm so sorry for the delay... some weeks are just like that I guess.

This sketch is a simple one that can be adapted to digital or traditional scrapping. The sketch is designed for 4 pictures and some elements and journaling, or just up the number of pictures for an easy tweak. Here's my take:

My son's both play baseball, two seasons a year, so I do a lot of sports layouts. Unfortunately, I've had the paper and stickers for some time that are featured here and I no longer remember where they came from! All supplies were purchased at Archivers....

The psd file is saved in the 3d group posting for those of you who prefer a digital template!

Scrappy Sunday and Scrapbook Saturday -- October 18 - 25, 2009

Hey everyone. I told Jen that I would do my best to post this week's Scrappy Sunday Challenge, while she's out of town. If this gets posted I'll be amazed as I haven't a clue what I'm doing, especially late in night Saturday. :) No worries, all will be back to normal next week & Jen will be back administering this.

This week's sketch might require a bit of rough draft so you can get the journaling around the outside of the page. I think it looks cool ever since I saw Ali Edwards do it on her layouts & if you can do it in your own handwriting, how lovely & personal. Digi scrappers & traditional scrappers, hopefully you'll have some fun with this. I did forget to sketch in embellishments, with all the pics on the page ... um sorry :) I'm sure you'll all be able to find somewhere to put them in (for me I just did it around the photos themselves).

The sketch is in 12"x12" square format, but you can switch it up to fit your scrapbook (flip or rotate the sketch, and move things around a bit, but try to stay true to the basic outline of the sketch. Have Fun!!) I've always scrapbooked in 8.5x11", but the basic square template is there. Anyhow, I hope some of you will have the chance to play along.

I'm really sorry about the lateness of this post. I took a much needed day of rest yesterday! Paper Craft Planet's Scrappy Sunday Challenge: Hi! Sorry I missed you guys last week!! Thanks Susanna for taking over for me!! I'm going to be out of town for continuing education for work next week, so I'll have a guest hostess next week as well, so everyone be on your best behavior!! (I'm having flash backs to grade school when the teacher would tell us we were going to have a substitute the next day!! hee hee). This week's sketch was actually designed by one of our former Scrappy Sunday Guest Designers, the oh-so-talented Crystal Livesay! Crystal recently opened up shop at the Digichick and is designing and selling digital templates inspired by her own amazing scrapbook layouts! Check out her store HERE. I've purchased all of her templates packs so far and they are seriously AWESOME!! If you're a digi scrapper and like to use a template, these are definitely a must-have!! The sketch features one main photo with lots of fun layered papers. Those "x"s represent embellishments of your choice. Feel free to include additional photos if you're a multi-photo scrapper, just try to stay true to the original sketch by building off the main focal point. Scrappy Sunday.. Oops, Monday

I'm a traditional scrapbooker, so this is a regular double page spread. I'm attaching the psd for those of you who want to scrap digitally. You can download it in our group.

Here's my take on the sketch:

Sorry for the washed out colors -- this is still in the scrapbook sleeves... because I added a mini-book on one of the pages!

This is a great technique for sneaking in a lot of pictures when you don't have a lot of room. Simply create the album and size to your desired size. Adhere the back page to your album.

Add journaling spaces or patterned paper to fill in any blank areas --

Hey! Sorry about the posting delay.  I spent yesterday getting Copic Certified!!! (Whoo Whooo!)  I'm adding a new list to our Scrappy Sunday Best of the Blogosphere -- it's the "Thumbs Up!" list.  It's a Shout Out list for our scrappers.  I thought it was time to have our own way of praising those amazing, above and beyond pages -- you know, the ones you book mark and go back to time and time again.

 For our Scrappy Sunday Challenge this week, we have some fun news, so I'll turn the "mic" over to Jen....

Wow! Can you believe it's already October!?!? Crazy, huh? This week's sketch should be an easy one for ya - I kept it pretty simple with very few layers (feel free to add them). I'd like to add an optional "bonus challenge" for you to include some interesting title work on your page, making it a focal point of your layout. (See my sample for inspiration).

Another Scrapbook Sunday. Wish I had time to scrapbook! Man. Things here in Georgia are just crazy. In the past week, I've experienced flooding, skateboarding, baseball, birthdays (not mine), home repair and Internet outages. I think I need a vacation. LOL. Hi guys! I'm going to keep this super short and sweet as everyone around here has been majorly sick with a nasty stomach bug all weekend!! NOT fun!! Susanna will be back in a bit in the main forum to announce the winner of the MAC Photoshop Elements!!

As promised, this week's sketch is a close match to last week's and is intended to work as the 2nd page of a 2-page layout. In fact, this week's sketch looks a lot like a flipped version of last week's sketch with things shifted slightly downward and replacing one of the square photos with a vertical photo. But I wanted to take this opportunity to show how easy it is to take a sketch and come up with a 2nd coordinating page for a 2-page spread. I do this quite often (flip it, shift some things and change the orientation of a photo or 2). I think it works - what do you think? The sketch is below.

Scrappy Sunday and Scrapbook Sunday -- both on Monday :P

OK, it's Scrappy Sunday on Paper Craft Planet and  I decided to play along. Truthfully, I realized yesterday that I haven't scrapped ANY of 2009, because I'm still working on my 2008 album. It's lit a fire under my rear end to start getting some pages done. Sketch challenges are a great way to motivate yourself.  Below, I'll add the sketch challenge, but I'll put my page here so you can see what I did this morning. 

If anyone has some recommendations for what this page "needs" comment on this post.  I'm dying to add a title, but I can't figure out font and placement, so I just decided to "press on".

 

I don't do a lot of digi scrapping, but it's SO MUCH FASTER once you know how, so I did it here.  This entire page was made using Libby Weifenbach's Peanuts & Cracker Jacks kit.  (Both boys play ball, so I figured this is a great kit for hybrid goodie bags, coach's gifts, etc.)  (Guess what?!  I just looked -- everything in Libby's store is 30% off this week!)

Did you think I forgot about you? LOL! Nope! I'm just completely thrown off by this holiday weekend. I spent the entire day today thinking it was Saturday!! Technically, it's still Sunday in Hawaii so I'm saying I'm still good!! This week's sketch was heavily inspired by a digital template from the Love Being Single template pack by BellaGypsy Designs (GottaPixel) - I just moved things around a big and removed a few layers to make it more paper-scrapper friendly! Take a look:
